Aluminium profiles UK consists of a specialised team with over 30 years of experience. We use precision and care to create some of the finest aluminium profiles in the country. And although we’re based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, we supply aluminium profiles throughout the country.
Our purpose built facility and equipment, paired with our precise techniques ensure the highest quality profiles. The specialised approach we apply when creating aluminium profiles means that we are the perfect choice for both individual one off pieces and or to meet the demands of large commercial contracts.
The benefits of using extruded aluminium in building applications
Whether in its raw form or having been through the anodisation process, aluminium is a versatile, durable and financially viable material. It has properties unlike any other popular building materials, which is why it lends itself to a multitude of different environments and applications.
Extruded aluminium has a high strength to weight ratio
Extruded aluminium is a very strong material. It has very high resistance to corrosion, cracks and scratches. Aluminium is also a very light when compared to the amount of strength it possesses. Resulting in a product suitable for multiple environments and that is easier to work with in construction.
Flexible production methods
There is a large amount of flexibility within the extrusion process. Essentially allowing the creation of profiles in any shape, colour or style. Unlike other materials, extruding with aluminium allows us to create something tailored completely to your design.
Environmentally friendly
Aluminium retains a high scrap value, it is essentially infinitely recyclable without losing any of its main characteristics. This means that when using aluminium you are minimising your carbon footprint. Using aluminium is great for the environment, unlike coatings which cause complications when trying to be recycled.
Why use aluminium framing
Because of their strength and form factor, aluminium and steel are two very popular products for building applications. But why is aluminium better than other building materials?
Aluminium has the equivalent strength to steel but is 35-45 percent lighter. This makes aluminium a more accessible material to use within different areas of construction. Steel window frames are being replaced by aluminium because aluminium is known to have a longer lifespan than steel. Because aluminium is so malleable, profiles can be extruded to precisely fit any window cavity.
Unlike other building appliances aluminium can be anodised. This will make aluminium stronger and give it more longevity without the need for a powder coating. Anodisation is not an externally applied coating, unlike a powder coating or layer of paint that is applied to steel. Anodisation strengthens aluminium’s already resistant qualities, increasing its longevity far beyond that of steel and iron.
Protective coatings are external processes and will be worn down over time, it is therefore not as effective as anodisation. According to the Mohs’ scale of hardness, aluminium oxide is only second to diamond, illustrating how aluminium is clearly stronger than other building materials.
