When customizing steel to make it more resilient to corrosion you need to add a coating or protection to the material, making the building material last significantly longer than it would naturally. Aluminium on the other hand has a process that is far more efficient than coating or painting.
Aluminium has a natural oxide layer which allows the material to be very strong and resistant to rust, forming part of the substrate of the material rather than a coating. Anodisation is an electro-chemical process which thickens this layer further, making aluminium significantly more resilient than it was in its initial state.
